When he’s not wandering through Middle-Earth or watching our very own Earth from the confines of International Space Station, he works as Partner Account Manager, proving that imagination and creativity go a long way when approaching partners. Why did you choose to work as a PAM? Don’t worry, you can pick more than 10 words this time… :)
I have worked in different roles in my life, starting as a teacher, doing some software development later, eventually moving between various positions in sales organizations. It was a long journey, with different companies, sure, but for the most time I worked as a channel person – I believe it’s been 15 years now. And I was lucky to discover that being a Partner Account Manager is probably the best job in the world, for me at least, because of the flexibility and creative approach that you can take for approaching different people and building long-term trust between each other. Keeping focus, being a liaison between your company and your partner’s interest, trying to convince different people how to work together to achieve success – now this is what dreams are made of! Of course, just like in any other job, you get through both good times and challenging times. There’s time to enjoy and then there’s time to put in the extra work and push harder as well. Regardless, I love being PAM. :)
You’re walking into a bar full of your current, but also potential partners. Everyone seems to be having a great time. What’s the first thing that you do?
I will approach my current partners first, to give my regards, join them for a drink, have fun, talk about the last time we met and what has happened since then. Then we’ll extend the talks and fun to other people in the room and network a little. Some drinks will be on me, of course. And in the morning at sunrise, I’ll leave the bar to get some sleep, looking forward for another great day. :)
