Every network administrator will admit that managing numerous notifications about the network's status can be overwhelming, especially when many of them are irrelevant but still consume precious time and resources. ExtremeCloud IQ CoPilot addresses this challenge by serving as a trusted digital advisor for your Extreme cloud-managed Wi-Fi networks, proactively minimizing risks, and delivering the quickest path to an optimized user experience.
Let’s start with the basics. What is ExtremeCloud IQ CoPilot? It is an optional subscription service, available in Extreme Networks' industry-acclaimed cloud environment. All users of the Pilot module within the platform automatically gain access to the CoPilot tool. Now, what does it do, exactly? This is where the fun begins!
Leveraging the power of AI and ML
The solution leverages explainable AI and ML (machine learning) to help IT teams adopt a more data-driven and proactive approach to managing their networks and solving problems. It reduces unnecessary alerts and simplifies troubleshooting by offering clear, auditable recommendations. CoPilot identifies significant anomalies, explains their potential impact, and provides solutions, allowing IT teams to address issues early. It also uses continuous learning to refine its suggestions and offers a connectivity quality index score to help IT professionals monitor and resolve client connection issues.
In other words, with CoPilot, network administrators can prioritize critical tasks, knowing the system efficiently handles and filters alerts, streamlining network management. ExtremeCloud IQ CoPilot delivers 99% accuracy, with out-of-context and false alarms occurring in only 1% of cases. This high level of reliability allows admins to depend almost entirely on CoPilot's reports and suggestions, saving significant time and reducing costs.
How does it work?
First, ExtremeCloud IQ CoPilot establishes a baseline of the network environment in which it operates. This baseline is crucial for detecting anomalies, pinpointing specific issues, and assessing their impact. Once an issue is identified, CoPilot analyzes its cause and provides actionable recommendations for resolution. These insights enable administrators to respond quickly and effectively to network challenges.
Currently, CoPilot monitors network performance across six key categories:
- Wi-Fi Efficiency – ensures optimal performance of wireless networks.
- Wi-Fi Capacity – monitors and manages user load to prevent congestion.
- Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) Recurrence – tracks and mitigates recurring DFS issues.
- Port Efficiency – evaluates the performance of ports in both wired and wireless networks.
- Power over Ethernet (PoE) Stability – tracks the stability of power delivery to devices.
- Adverse Traffic Patterns – displays anomalies caused by TX and RX traffic loads that result in high resource use of multicast and broadcast communications
You remain in control
ExtremeCloud IQ CoPilot is designed to serve as a trusted advisor to network administrators. While it assists with insights and recommendations, it does not make autonomous decisions. The admin remains fully in control, using CoPilot as a helpful assistant to streamline network management.
If CoPilot detects a critical issue that the admin cannot resolve, it offers the option to escalate directly to the Extreme Networks Global Technical Assistance Center (GTAC) without leaving the CoPilot environment. This seamless integration ensures that administrators retain oversight and control while accessing expert support when needed.
