Whether you’re listening to the ABBA’s greatest hits or using Wi-Fi connectivity, you always expect a stellar performance. The Wi-Fi World Congress Europe 2022 in Stockholm will deliver that, and much more – on September 26-28, join the world’s top Wi-Fi experts, including our very own David D. Coleman, Director of Wireless and CWNE #4!
The Wi-Fi World Congress hosted by Wi-Fi NOW is the no. 1 congress event dedicated to showcasing and supporting the global Wi-Fi industry. Masterclass training sessions, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and on top of it all – a bustling expo with the world’s leading Wi-Fi technology vendors, including yours truly, showcasing their latest products and services. What more could you ask for?
Well, you’d probably appreciate a convenient location. As it happens, for the first time the event is bringing the world’s top Wi-Fi leaders to Stockholm, providing an exceptional opportunity for European, and especially Scandinavian, network professionals and organizations to join! After all, what better place to put up a show and discuss innovations and opportunities than the city of ABBA and Alfred Nobel, right?
Meet with David D. Coleman (CWNE #4)!
Speaking of performances, the Wi-Fi World Congress wouldn’t be the same without David D. Coleman (CWNE #4) – Director of Wireless in the Office of CTO at Extreme Networks and a global authority on Wi-Fi technology! David will be giving a speech on the third day of the event (September 28). As a warmup, we’ve asked him a couple of questions before to the event!
David, this year’s event will be zooming in on the current evolution of Wi-Fi and the massive new opportunities Wi-Fi 6E provides for enterprises and service providers, among others. Who do you think will be the biggest winners in the era of 6 GHz and why?
Wi-Fi 6E offers up to 1,200 MHz of new spectrum in the 6 GHz frequency band which is an enormous spectrum bonanza. Over 60 countries across the Americas, Europe, and APAC already have or are considering new regulations for Wi-Fi use in 6 GHz.
Quite frankly, every vertical wins with 6 GHz Wi-Fi! Anything you can do with Wi-Fi in the legacy bands, you will be able to do better in 6 GHz. I do foresee mission critical applications moving to 6 GHz due to pristine RF environment. And due to the bandwidth and latency enhancements available, over the next ten years, I expect all kinds of innovation for new wireless applications that can prosper in 6 GHz.
Wi-Fi 6E is the foundational generation of Wi-Fi that offers 6 GHz connectivity. Wi-Fi 7 will be the next generation that leverages 6 GHz and all other future generations of Wi-Fi will be built on the spectrum superhighway that has debuted with Wi-Fi 6E.
The upcoming Wi-Fi World Congress is not your first rodeo, so to speak. What are you most excited about this time?
The Wi-Fi World Congress, sponsored by Wi-Fi NOW, is always a great event because it brings together industry leaders. Claus Hetting always attracts great speakers! I am excited to hear the diverse perspectives of Wi-Fi 6E from a lot of very smart people and have some visionary conversations about the next-gen technology, Wi-Fi 7. Of course, I am also enjoying getting back in front of people again, as opposed to the virtual meetings of the past several years due to the pandemic. Also – Stockholm is awesome!
Who do you think will benefit the most from attending the event and your presentation? How would you convince someone who’s never been to any Wi-Fi World Congress to come and join the party?
This is a great "business of Wi-Fi" conference for analysts, executives, CIOs and techies. I have always liked the biz-dev aspect of the conference, however, anyone interested in Wi-Fi will learn a lot just by attending. Also, Extreme Networks is sponsoring an after-hours event at the ABBA museum... that only is worth the price of a ticket! 🙂
What’s your favorite ABBA song? 😉
The hit single from the year 1981, "Take a Chance on Me" – I am dating myself, but I was 21 years old when that tune was blasting on the radio.
The after party? Walk in, dance out!
All work and no play… Wi-Fi NOW social events are a big part of the Wi-Fi World Congress, where we can meet, laugh and refresh our passion for work among the industry thought leaders. This year Extreme Networks is overjoyed to invite everyone with a WWC 2022 ticket to a special social evening event at the one and only ABBA The Museum in Stockholm!
Meet all the other great folks for drinks and a private VIP tour of the museum where you can virtually try on ABBA’s costumes, sing, play, mix original music and become the fifth member of the band!
